Attend an Orientation First-year members must be invited by the camp organizers or sponsors and attend an orientation (on Zoom) to learn about our camp culture and expectations.
Pre-Playa Participation Be an active participant in our planning WhatsApp community.
On-Playa Commitment Arrive on playa **no later than sundown on the Tuesday before Labor Day**. If you are arriving late, consider staying through at least Saturday to help with clean up.
Camp Shifts While at Burning Man, work at least **two camp shifts**, contributing to activities like building, bartending, participating in the jail theatrics, or helping with camp operations and logistics.
Community Gifts Jail of Hedone is renowned for its gift to Black Rock City: the infamous, interactive art experience of our Hedonist Happy Hour, and, new for 2026, our Yard Parties.
Camp Dues Pay your dues and get access to our Steward Sale ticket allotment by February 25th. Tier 2 dues start of $600 per person on March 1st. These contributions fund shared infrastructure, activities, and communal resources.

To make sure everyone is prepared for their Burning Man experience, please note that camp membership does not provide: - A ticket to Burning Man (you must secure your own). - Transportation to and from Black Rock City. - Shelter or bedding (bring your own tent or RV). - Food is on a potluck basis
Most new members are sponsored by current Hedonites. If you know someone in the camp, ask them to sponsor you—no need to fill out our application form!
